Those Crazy Cars . . . .
First paragraph of the New York Times story:
The Nissan Altima was traveling north on Centre Street around 11 a.m. when it jumped the curb onto the sidewalk — and kept moving. It hit a fire hydrant and then a coffee cart, the bleeding vendor leaping for safety as his customers scattered. The car came to rest, pinning a man against a railing on the steps of State Supreme Court. In an instant, a warm and busy morning in Lower Manhattan had been shattered.
Oh wait, there was driver at the wheel:
The police said six people were injured, including Lorenzo Bello, the 33-year-old man who was driving the 1999 Altima . . . .
Mr. Bello, who lives in Queens, was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and driving with a suspended license.
